Welcome to Saint Martin de Julliers in the Charente Maritime - a
gateway to a whole lot of attractions.
Angelyne is a restored traditional Charentaise house which blends the peace, tranquility, romance and beauty of a typical French country setting with a host of recreational activities for those who want a more active holiday, close to the town of St Jean D’Angely.
We are 60 minutes from La Rochelle and Royan airports and just 20 minutes from the town of Cognac. We have a selection of accommodations, from three lovely large bed and breakfast rooms to a two person romantic Studio Gite, all the way to a spacious well equipped Cottage to sleep six people. Our Octagonal heated Swimming Pool 10.5. x 5.5 meters enjoys the benefits of salt water filtration which is kinder to the skin and eyes than a chlorinated pool. What better way to relax than to enjoy a glass of local wine with a good book, basking in the sun around the pool.

The Cottage - Romantic (sleeps 2)
This gite provides comfortable & romantic accommodation for a couple. The living area is open plan providing generous lounge and dining areas and a fully equipped kitchen (with gas cooker, fridge, washing machine - house access - and microwave & a lot of utensils for great cooking. All south facing windows overlook the private garden. There is an added pleasure of a traditional wood-burning stove for cooler seasons. Private garden and Patio.
The Cottage - Garden (sleeps 6)
The entrance to this south facing gite is via a private walled terrace (with it’s own table, chairs, and BBQ), which is decorated from spring to autumn with geraniums and lavender. The lounge and dining kitchen(Generously stocked with crockery, cutlery, and crockery for the little ones, glasses, pots & pans and many other kitchen and dining items, cupboards, washing machine, fridge, and gas cooker, microwave and many other electrical appliances) are separated by a central corridor which leads to the bathroom and the bedrooms. Both large bedrooms are spacious and uncluttered, although well provided with drawer and hanging facilities and can sleep up to 6 persons. Private garden and Patio.
Both properties are equipped with a television and a Video/DVD player – Satellites with English & French multiple channels . A selection of children’s videos are provided. They also all have radios and facilities for playing CDs. A welcome pack will greet your arrival. Also available (free of charge):

Pillows, duvets, blankets, tea towels and all bed-linen are provided. Please bring your own towels for use around the pool. (option available to hire towels at a weekly charge - please ask).
Security deposit of 150 Euros payable upon arrival and will be returned to you on departure providing no damages or breakages are incurred during your stay. * Reasonable gas and electricity costs included
We expect the gites to be left in a clean condition although they will be cleaned before your arrival. If you require a cleaner we can arrange this for a fee of 30 euros

LOCATION & THINGS TO DO
Bordeaux : is only 90 minutes away, with fashionable boutiques, department stores, ( a haven for the shopaholic) and plenty of famous cafes.
Cognac: is about 20 minutes away. A pretty town with parks, markets and really good value restaurants. Famous distilleries
La Palmyre: 60 minutes away, there is a lovely zoo where you can look through the glass tanks and see polar bears performing aqua acrobatics. Also in the La Palmyre area is a water park ( open all week in high season and weekends in low season), and a small theme park. This area has many beaches including areas for naturists.
La Rochelle: For seafood lovers, the Old Port of La Rochelle is 60 minutes away
Poitiers: The Futuroscope theme park is about 75 minutes away.
Royan: is about 50 minutes away. A new town, as it was destroyed during World War 2 and busy in the high season. Many fish restaurants,
Five beaches of fine sand and plenty of shops and local markets.
Saintes: is 25 minutes away. A Roman town with the impressive Arch of Germanicus and spectacular Amphitheatre. Also an excellent local market every morning of the week and once a month a big market which takes up all of the town of Saintes. Many good restaurants and boat trips are available along the beautiful Charente river.
St George de Didonne: About 45 minutes away, the closest Atlantic beach, backed by dunes and pine trees. Great for children and picnics.
St Jean d’Angely: is only 15 minutes away. It is a beautiful town with a lovely park with a lake for fishing, boating and canoes. This is a play area for small children, and pony rides. There is also an outdoor pool and across the park is a brand new leisure centre with indoor poor with slides etc. Superb!
Matha: is 10 minutes away, a lovely small town with a cinema, outdoor swimming pool, and a couple restaurants and cafes. First Friday of every month is the market which has a wide selection of clothes, traditional live stock, vegetables and fish. A must for any visitor.
Aulnay: is 10 minutes away and is another lovely small town. It has a great Sunday market for local produce and also has a post office, chemists, hairdressers, newsagents, various shops and restaurants, doctors, everything you need is here. Also is the Romanesque church of Aulnay of Saintonge which is one of the masterpieces of Poitevin Romanesque art
Dampiere-sur-Boutonne: 15 kms away. It has a lovely renaissance chateau with a museum which take you through the ages. (It has English translations), an art gallery with works of Salvador Dali and a coffee shop.
