is a newly converted 1 bedroomed cottage located in a lovely village in the
South Vendee.
The cottage is within the grounds of the owners house and is separated by a large barn/garage, it has its own private patio and sitting area with access to the main garden of the house. WIFI
Guests are welcome to help themselves to the fruit and vegetables which we grow, whatever is in season during their stay.
A dog is quite welcome - we walk ours in a wooded area a couple of minutes up the road.

is one spacious bedroom coming from the living area.

A washing machine and tumble dryer are available at all times in the Utility Room of the main house.

The bedroom is fully furnished with a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables.
The room is sufficiently large to accommodate a child's bed/travel cot that can be made available upon request.
A highchair is also available if required.
Bathroom
Good size bathroom with bath, shower, WC and hand wash basin.
WIFI connection is available for anyone wishing to bring their own laptop.
Outside
Private patio area with table and chairs for al fresco dining. Also access to the owners main garden and you are very welcome to help yourselves to any fruit or vegetables which are in season during your stay.

French Holiday Homes, Cottages and Gites with Pool in Vendee, Western Loire
LOCATION
The cottage is set in a quiet rural village location. One the edge of the village of L'Hermenault and within easy walking distance of patisserie/boulangerie, tabac/cafe, small supermarket, pharmacy, post office, banks (with 24 hour cashpoint), doctor (English spoken) and dentist.
The village St Martin des Fontaines (2 km) has a good bar/restaurant.
We are between the historic market towns of Fontenay-le-Comte (11km)and Lucon (15km).
There is so much to do in the Vendee - more information of Vendee beaches, activities, attractions, lakeside beaches etc available at the top of this page in the links box to the right.
Trout and coarse fishing are within a 5 min drive and permits can be arranged.
The open countryside all around the property is quiet, tranquil and excellent for cycling, walks, birdwatching, painting and wildlife or just generally relaxing, whilst on the doorstep lie numerous places of interest and outdoor activities to suit everyone.
You can reach the beautiful golden Vendee beaches within an hour. Most beaches are backed by sand dunes and pine forests with large areas for picnics and scenic coastal walks. The Vendee coast stretches for 120km and boasts many blue flag awards. There is also a large man-made beach/activity park within 25 mins drive at nearby Xanton-Chassenon.
The pretty harbour of La Rochelle with its famous aquarium, numerous bars and restaurants and great shopping is approx. 50 mins drive. Futuroscope and Puy de Fou are approx. 1.5 hour's drive. The Marais Poitevin with its sleepy waterways, boat rides and beautiful abbeys is under 30 minutes by car. The Mervent Forest is 25 mins by car. Most Atlantic beaches can be reached within the hour.
For wine lovers, the nearby cave at Pissotte produces and sells direct to the public well-known local red and white wines.
Every 2 years (June 2010), Fontenay-le-Comte holds a magnificent carnival with floats and dancers from around the world. The whole event is finished with a magnificent firework display on the third night.

Nearest airports are La Rochelle and Nantes, 45 mins and 1 hours drive respectively. Poitiers is also accessible by car in 1 hour 15 mins. The driving times from the channel ports are St Malo (3 hours), Caen (4 hours) and Cherbourg (5 hours). Use of a car is advisable.
