ACCOMMODATION
On entering the driveway you enter a totally secluded world, which consists of an acre of beautiful lawns, trees, bushes, flower beds and a large wood full of poplar trees. There is a lovely 10 metre by 5 metre swimming pool with a special wind on cover which complies with the new French government standard NF P90-308 and a pool shower.
Next to the pool is the excellent barbecue, and a dining table seating twelve. The pool conservatory, which is shaded all day, has glass sliding doors which open the room 66%. Inside there is a drinks fridge, and an ice-cube making machine churning out cubes to your requirements! Facing the pool is a CCTV camera transmitting photo and sound to a 21" monitor in the kitchen, bringing peace of mind for parents!. The main conservatory is at the front of the house, and beautifully furnished as a dining area, with large plants.
The Main Kitchen has ceramic hobs, eye level oven, dishwasher, microwave, large toaster, electric kettle, coffee perculator, electric whisk, bar-style wine opener and a large fridge-freezer. There is a beautiful oak dining table that seats 10+ people, with inbuilt seating around the wall side. Washing machine and tumble can be found in the garage. One the first floor there is a kitchenette which has an electric hob, grill, fridge and sink unit.
The Main Lounge has a huge sofa that can seat 6 adults or 8 children. We have Sky television, a DVD player, a Video player and a Stereo/CD player. There is also a glass fronted, wood burning fire, dimmer lights, beautiful custom made wall units and high quality Charentaise furniture. The 2nd lounge is on the first floor with sofa bed and table.
Bedrooms - The Ground Floor has one bedroom with a large king size bed plus TV/DVD/CD player, huge custom made wardrobe, the second bedroom has a large double bed and a single bed and ensuite power shower and washbasin, There are double doors onto the terrace. Also a door into the pool conservatory, which has a drinks fridge. The third bedroom has two single beds. The First Floor apartment has one huge bedroom which has two single beds and a double sofa bed. The second bedroom has two single beds, the open plan bedroom has a large single bed, and the apartment lounge has a double sofa bed.
The main bathroom is a large bathroom with bath and attachment shower, twin wash basins with huge lighted mirror. Separate large walk in shower room with power shower. Separate toilet with vanity units with wash basin, and a further separate toilet. Separate bathroom. The first floor has a bathroom with toilet, wash basin and power shower.
The Front Conservatory is an ideal place to have breakfast and to relax in before the Sun makes the temperature a little uncomfortable. By contrast, the Pool Conservatory is shaded all day and remains cool. This is helped by the drinks fridge and ice-cube making machine. You can relax here and watch your children enjoying the pool.

LOCATION
The local village, Cravans has an excellent restaurant/bar and a baker's. St Andre de Lidon (5 minutes) has a general store, bakers, post office, and an excellent bistro/bar with menus at (approx)9.50 euros. At Gemozac (8 minutes) there is a large supermarket, a Lidl, five restaurants and a Friday market.
Visit the Ile d'Oleron and the Ile de Re, and the beautiful La Rochelle(1 hour). There is an excellent zoo at Palmyre. So, you have surfing and sailing at Royan and St George de Didonne, horse riding at Epagnes and Cozes (ten minutes) and golf at Cognac and Saintes, and good eating everywhere!
Only 25 minutes from Royan on the coast with its wonderful beaches, or 20 minutes from the smaller resort of St-Georges-de-Didonne. Also close to the picturesque port of Mortagne-sur-Gironde with its three good and reasonably priced restaurants. Cognac is only about twenty five miles away, and its significance is self explanatory! The ancient town of Saintes is about twenty minutes. There are many Roman churches in the immediate vicinity. Take the ferry from Royan across to the Medoc, and visit the famous wine châteaux such as Lafite, Latour, Mouton Rothschild, Margaux and Petrus etc. Beautiful botanical garden with more than 3 hectares and over 1500 varieties of plants, with picnic tables is only 5 minutes away from the house.
A lovely fishing lake lEtang des Brousses with bar and restaurant is 5 minutes from the house. Fishing is 7 euros a half day. They will cook fish you catch. Trout, carp etc
There are good golf courses at Royan,Cognac,and Saintes.

Just got back from a 2 week holiday. 13 of us stayed there and I was slightly concerned we might get under each others feet - but no risk of that! The place is huge and we had loads of space.
The property was exactly as described in the details on the website and actually exceeded expectations in many ways. I had a minds eye image of sitting reading under the trees in the garden with a good book and a beer, with the kids (young adults actually) messing about in the pool and everyone chilled. Fully achieved many times!
Ther location is great - 25 mins from the beach, 30 mins from Royan and Cognac and 60 mins from La Rochelle - all visited during our stay and recommended.
We also visited the restaurant at Etang da Brousse, recommended by Stephen and had a great meal up there - 4 courses for 18 euro. Food was lovely!
The wine tasting evening arranged by Martin/Wendy (friends of Stephen) is also a fun way to spend a couple of hours - we bought loads of wine from them at great prices.
All in all we had a great holiday and would thoroughly recommend it if you want a laid back gite type holiday in France in the French countryside, but close to lots of things to do.
The local 'patisserie' in Cravans sells fresh bread etc and is walkable if you fancy an early morning stroll or is a 5 min drive. The local supermarket is 10 mins drive away (Super U) in Gemozac and is large and reasonable value (10L of red wine for 15euro is not to be sniffed at!)

We were so pleased to see your website advertising Farmhouse near Royan, and fell in love with it instantly. We were certainly not disappointed with the reality!
Immaculately clean and tidy, and very well decorated. It certainly is the ideal place for a dream holiday, let alone a dream honeymoon!
We wanted for nothing whilst we were there, the house being very well equipped. We both loved the efficient power showers which were very refreshing after a day lazing in the garden or travelling around in our hire car.
Evenings we would go for a dip in the pool whilst crevettes and steaks sizzled on the barbie, and sit there until dusk when we would go to the very comfy bed provided by you, and sleep very well.
Your neighbours, Fernand and Evelyn were such nice people, nothing was too much trouble for them.
We were so impressed with the house that we have recommended it to all our friends. We had such a lovely relaxing time, that we cannot imagine anybody not thoroughly enjoying it there.
Thanks very much again, we hope we can book again next year, unless all our friends have bagged all available dates!!!
