Looking for a peaceful base for your holiday?
Then come and stay in our beautiful 12th century Vendéen farmhouse.
Built around 1130 from local limestone as a forge for a local Chateau and extensively restored and extended in 1536 using reclaimed oak, the house sits comfortably in a rural landscape. Surrounded by fields of wheat and sunflowers, but just 10 minutes drive from Fontenay le Comte.
Our farmhouse was purchased in 2004, and has been lovingly restored to celebrate the character and beauty of the original design.
Each room has it’s own private en-suite bathrooms, with shower and WC. Rooms are cleaned daily, and for people staying for longer periods, bed linen and towels are changed regularly.
Currently we have 2 Chambre d’Hote rooms, one double en-suite on the ground floor, this room is approx 35 sq m, with a sitting area, it benefits from views of the garden.
The second room on the first floor overlooking the front fields is a double room ensuite with an extra single bed if required so can be let as a family room.
Feel free to enjoy our peaceful gardens, and soak up a bit of French sun.
Or take advantage to eat “al fresco” on the terrace.
Weather permitting all meals are served on our terrace.
Breakfasts are a help yourself buffet consisting of Fruit juices, Tea and Coffee, cereals, croisants, toast, marmalade and jam, yogurt and fresh fruit.
We want to make your stay as comfortable as possible so if you have any specific dietary requirements, please let us know at the time of booking.
For those wishing to keep in touch 'with the outside world' we have available Wi-Fi enabled broadband.

LOCATION
La Maison Neuve is located in the village of St Marsais Radegonde in the sunny South Vendee.
In the neighbouring village of L'Hermenault (approx 2 miles) there is a lovely boulangerie, mini supermarket,banks, post office, Tobac/Newsagent, Pharmacy, English speaking doctor. In the neighbouring village of St Martin Des Fontaines (approx 1km) there is a bar which also offers snacks and pizzas.
Surrounded by fields of wheat and sunflowers, but just 10 minutes drive from Fontenay le Comte, the ancient capital of the Vendée, where you can visit the wonderful Chateau Terre-Neuve
From here you can explore the vast Mervent forest which covers 5000 hectares of land, there are many things to explore besides the large lakes, picnic areas and miles of walks and cycle tracks.
Take in medieval Vouvant, with it’s historic church and castle remains. Lunch on the riverbank at a variety of French restaurants, or take a trip to La Rochelle, only 45 minutes by car.
Enjoy the unspoilt Atlantic coast, with it’s breathtakingly vast sand beaches (50 minutes), or hire a boat and explore the quiet beauty of the Marais Poitevan (green Venice) This ancient network of canals is home to a wide array of birds and wildlife, a national park in it’s own right.
Or take a day to explore the magical spectacle that is Puy de Fou, breathtaking falconry displays, gladiatorial combat, re enactment of the Vendéen wars and the evening Son et Lumière.
