Featured in LIVING FRANCE MAGAZINE - Deep in the Deux-Sèvres countryside of Poitou Charentes, surrounded by fields, trees and hardly a neighbour in sight, our property has been described as a 'little piece of heaven' {II}. The tranquility here is perfect for a relaxing holiday but there are also plenty of things to do here. We receive more than 2250 hours of sunshine per year and are also fortunate enough to be close to the border with the beautiful Vendée department and so inherit much of the rolling hills and spectacular countryside from there.
We have a 'children's farm' on site to delight your family, there is also horse riding on site, a games room and a children's play area,
The spacious farmhouse is situated well away from the road making it both safe and private.
You will have exclusive use of the large swimming pool.
The house is fully centrally heated making it a great destination for holidays all year round

OUTSIDE LEISURE
The swimming pool and terrace area has been described as an 'oasis'. Set behind the house and enclosed on all four sides, the area receives full sunshine almost all day long yet you can relax and swim in complete privacy.
The figure of eight shaped pool is 12m x 5.5m and has a 'roman end' with steps into the water, making entry and exit easy for our older guests and providing an important safety feature for children.
The water in the pool is heated by our autofed, wood-burning boiler which GUARANTEES you an optimum temperature regardless of the weather (unlike other pool heating systems e.g solar panels).
The pool is surrounded by nearly 200m2 of non-slip terrace with plenty of sun loungers and parasols.
2 solar heated showers in the pool area
There is also a covered and lit barbecue area with table and chairs, so you can eat outside as often as you like. San boule court.
Automatic sensors turn on the lighting for the pool area as dusk falls so you can enjoy the tranquility with a bottle (or three!) of wine as long as you like.
Just next to the barbeque area is a sand boule court. Boule and palet are both provided, and the area is well lit, so all you need is a good supply of wine (and a sense of humour) for those late night competitions!
We have a large, floodlit games barn (18m x 6m) for your (and especially your children's) entertainment.
There is a table tennis table, a basket ball net, a safety darts board or why not knock around a football or play softball in there?
There is also a selection of games, jigsaws and packs of cards in the gite. You can borrow our x box games too!
Boredom is never a problem here with our children's play area. Here you will find swings, a slide, a trampoline, swing ball and a badminton net.
Your children will love our mini farm. We have a selection of animals who you are more than welcome to get to know during your stay. Collect fresh eggs from the chickens, feed the goats, teach the pigs a new trick (they can 'sit' & 'turn around'!). Throw a ball for the dogs or lead a pony.
If you fancy a walk or a bike ride there is a super network of tracks running from property for you to explore.
If you are interested in horse riding we have a small selection of well trained and well loved horses who would love to show you around the local countryside. Rides can be arranged to fit in with your holiday.
We can arrange for you to play golf at a local course, can provide you with walking/cycling routes or why not go fishing at the premier fishing centre in Europe, Pescalis.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS
“We had a fantastic Holiday with you and have told everyone about it (especially the fresh eggs!) All the children enjoyed themselves and my two have told everyone how much they liked the dogs.
We too would like to come again as it was so relaxing and the children loved it so will be in touch when we all get together again and discuss things. Thanks and Best wishes to you all, Louise”
Thank you for a very enjoyable holiday, the facilities were excellent and we seemed to have brought the best weather with us. The whole holiday experience was really enjoyable and we couldn't have asked for nicer owners to stay next to. The journey back to Calais went without any problems and we caught the boat with plenty of time to spare. I hope all the animals are behaving themselves, and that you are all keeping well. Once again thank you for a very enjoyable time, Regards, Tony”
“Dear All, Journey back was fine. Can't believe we left anything behind, we checked and checked. However, I knew the white towel was somewhere, just couldn't find it. We'd like to come back next year anyway, so we can pick up the towel then. The children were especially sad to go. You couldn't have been more hospitable had you tried. Horse riding and teaching was superb and we will be in touch to check out riding schools in the future. Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer. Love. Chris, David, Jenny and the clan”
LOCATION
The local village is only 3km away, an enjoyable bike ride, with boulangerie/general store and bar.
A supermarket, petrol station, bank, chemist and weekly farmers' market are only a 10-15 minutes drive.
There is a super restaurant just 5 minutes drive away and there are many more great places to eat in the area.
Our region is blessed with an exceptional number of sunshine hours per year (over 2250). It is the sunniest region in Western France. Winter is mild and the mimosas flower as early as January; Spring comes early (and is beautiful) and, whilst Summer naturally sees most tourist activity, Autumn is still warm enough for the calmer main holiday.

The coast of the Poitou Charentes is one of the most popular with French holidaymakers, known for its long stretches of fine sand and good weather. The famous coastal town of La Rochelle is located just an hour away in the Charente Maritime department. The old harbour and three medieval towers symbolise the port's rich history; there are lively quayside markets, trendy bars and excellent restaurants. Take a guided tour in a horse-drawn carriage, a boat trip to Fort Boyard or visit the fascinating aquarium. The idyllic beaches of the Ile de Re (some 30km worth) are also within easy reach and the island is well worth a day's visit in its own right.

The area is perfect for walking, riding and cycling. The countryside is made up of rolling hills divided up into a patchwork quilt of sunflower and corn fields interspersed with fields containing cows and goats. The marais poitevin (or Green Venice) is a fascinating maze of rivers, dykes and tree-shaded canals which thread between meadows and fields. They cover an area of 230,000 acres from Niort and Fontenay-Le-Comte to the Atlantic ocean. The best way to explore is by boat, either with or without a guide. Visit, also, the Poitou donkey park at Dampierre-sur-Boutonne and marvel at this special breed of dreadlocked donkey!
Mervent (30 minutes away) is a great place to explore, it has large lakes and forests to explore, Mervent Zoo, theme park Pierre Brun and so much more.
Pescalis is a fishing paradise, whatever your skill level. Only 20 minutes away.
Combining a 150 hectare nature reserve with international standard fishing, it is the only attraction of its kind in Europe.
There are 100 hectares of lakes to choose from, and you can fish for pike, perch, black-bass and trout as well as carp, roach, rudd, sturgeon, bream, tench and salmon.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Futuroscope (1 hour 15 minutes), in Poitiers, is a collection of simulated visual spectacles, ranging from a white knuckle ride to journeys of dicovery in 3D to a magic carpet to a ride in a Formula 1 car.
Puy du Fou (45 minutes away) is a huge medieval theme park with fascinating displays during both the day and the night. Marvel at the beautiful birds of prey, gasp at the stunt riders and take a step back in time in the vast roman stadium.
Go Karting - 20 minutes away

The region's history could have been lifted from an adventure story book: visit medieval fortresses, roman churches, renaissance chateaus, protestant temples, grand abbeys, ramparts, fortifications and dungeons. Accross the region stand some 600 beautiful examples of the Romanesque sanctuary, a heritage which began around the 10th century with techniques born of the Christian Roman Empire.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The food of the region is simple and rustic, the food of peasants, but created from the wonderful local vegetables, fruits, dairy produce and fish. The markets of the region are colourful and extremely interesting, there is no better place to buy your provisions; lamb, beef or seafood, melons from Haut-Poitou or vegetables from the coast.
