Les Meuniers        4 Bedrooms,  sleeps 8       Property Ref:  FR112Located in the Sunny south Vendee, Les Meuniers is a charming old farmhouse with plenty of character. The house is located on the edge of the village of Pouille with parts of the property dating back over 200 years. It has been carefully restored and retains many original features such as the beautiful beamed ceilings downstairs.
The house comprises of four bedrooms, two shower rooms, a large salon, and a big family kitchen with a large dining table and plenty of space for eight adults to relax and enjoy. There are two bedrooms with kingsize beds, one with twin beds and one with bunk beds (the bottom bunk is a double bed). The landing has a full size cot (please bring your own bedding for your little one). The kitchen is equipped with a highchair and plenty of crockery and cutlery for both adults and children. The kitchen also has a dishwasher, large fridge freezer, full size cooker and microwave.    WIFI
A washing machine and tumble dryer are also available in the laundry area next to the down stairs toilet..
Les Meuniers sits in its own large garden and has a lovely heated full sized swimming pool (10 metres x 5 metres,1.2 metres deep throughout), complete with a security cover. There are also large seating areas and plenty of garden and pool furniture. The garden is fully enclosed and very private, with plenty to do in the house and gardens such as a full size table football, table tennis table and lots of games for the garden which we hope you will enjoy. There is also a range of bicycles you can use, including 4 adult bikes and 3 children's bikes of various sizes. Our lovely old bake house has been converted into a fully fitted and secure bicycle workshop where you can tinker with your road or mountain bike. It has a work stand and a full range of tools to keep you on the road or track during your stay. It has plenty of room to store all you precious bikes and bits securely. Outside you will also find a washing bike station if you like getting down and dirty. The Vendee is a very popular destination for cyclists as it offers over 1000 Km of dedicated tracks for family cycling. Fans of road cycling can also follow stages of the Tour de France from past years on the many miles of road routes around the region. We have collected a whole range of cycle routes on and off the road with laminated handy maps to make your route planning easy.
Cycle routes ranging from short (less than a hour) to all-day routes. These include off road tracks for MBK riders as well as local road routes.

In the village you will find a post office (in the Marie), a great restaurant, a fabulous bakery and a traditional french barwhere you can also get your daily bread and other bits and pieces. There is also a large tourist information office where you can find out about all of the wonderful attractions the Vendee has to offer. If you can pull yourself away from relaxing at Les Meuniers, make a day for a visit to the famous Puy Du Fou theme park, a treat for adults and children alike.

Only 45 minutes drive to the beautiful West coast beaches including La Tranche sur mer, L'Aiguillon sur Mer, Les Conches and many others.  

 

ACCOMMODATION
Downstairs is a large family kitchen diner which has lots of character and includes a full sized cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, etc.  Washing machine and tumble drier are available .  Dining table seats 8.
The large salon has an original open fireplace and plenty of seating.  TV with Satellite for English and French programmes, Radio, DVD player, Video, CD Player.   WIFI available.
Upstairs there is a large games area with table football and a selections of books, games and toys.
2 x Double bedrooms with kingsize beds, 1 x Twin bedroom and the 4th bedroom has bunk beds.  
2 x shower rooms, both with WC and washbasin.
Bed linen is provided but you should bring your own towels and beach towels.
Cot and Highchair available.

 

This property is completely private and you will have exclusive use of all facilities.

 

OUTSIDE LEISURE 
There is plenty to do in the house and gardens such as a full size table football, table tennis table and lots of games for the garden which we hope you will enjoy.  
Private, HEATED swimming pool (10metres x 5 metres,1.2 metres deep throughout.), with a security cover. Heated by solar panels.
The property has a large, secure garden which is fully enclosed and very private, with plenty of places to sit and read a book, find a shady spot and relax in a hammock or play badminton and various ball games on offer.  
Large trampoline.
Various places to eat alfresco or simple sit and enjoy a glass of wine.
Barbeque - large steel drum type.
There are also large seating areas and plenty of garden furniture.  
Private off road parking.

The house - it's fantastic! It's exactly the French farmhouse style house I was looking for. The owners should be really proud of how they have renovated it as they have done a great job. We've rented many holiday homes both in the UK and in Europe and Les Meuniers is definitely in our top three. We felt very 'at home' there.   The outside space is amazing. The pool and garden area is such a great feature of the house and really made the holiday for us.

The facilities on offer at this property were excellent, the have everything that you need for your holiday, great attention to details.  The large garden and pool a firm favourite with all of us.  The property is well located in a quiet area, yet conveniently located within the village.  There were many places to explore, 2 weeks were not enough.  We will definitely return to this property and cannot recommend highly enough.     July 2015

 

 

 

LOCATION
Les Meuniers is located in a quiet road in the village of Pouille, with only a few other houses around.  Traffic is very infrequent.The surronding area is very safe for children, with fields and farm tracks around the village that are good for walking and riding bikes etc.

Located in the South Vendee, Pouille is a small village with 2  very good restaurants (1 is 2 minute walk away and the other is 6 minutes walk)., boulangerie (2 minutes walk) and bar tabac (5 minutes walk). It is a 10 minute drive from the busy market town of Fontenay le Comte with its shops, renaissance buildings and large supermarkets.
Pouille is located close to the Mervent forest with its walking, boating,  horse riding, cycling facilities, childrens play park and Zoo.  It is also a short drive from the Marais with its extensive canals and waterways.
The beautiful Atlantic beaches of the French West coast are just over half an hours drive away.
The historic city of La Rochelle with its lovely harbour is well worth a visit and is just over half an hours drive.
There are many tourist attractions to suit people of all ages and preferences - also many wine tasting places!!
The village is easy to reach from the main A84 motorway.
