Located in a small rural village setting we offer a fully restored 18th century hunting lodge which has 3 bedrooms and accommodates 6/8 people and separate 2 bedroom gite which sleeps 4.
The property is set in a large fully landscaped garden with trees offering shade on the hot summers days.  Within the garden is  a 12 meter swimming pool which is fenced off for security and fully complies with French law.

The 3 bedroom Logis has been fully restored to a very good standard and offers spacious accommodation. Oil fired central heating.
Kitchen and dining:  Open plan kitchen dining area. The kitchen is modern with all mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, double sink...   
There is a table and chairs for 8 people
Living rooms: Separate living room which is light and airy and has comfortable seating, satellite TV
Bedrooms:  Downstairs double bedroom, upstairs is a further double bedroom and a further room with 4 single beds 
Bathrooms: There are 3 bath/shower rooms in main house plus outside shower and toilet. 
Outside terrace with table and chairs.

The gite has been recently restored to a very good standard and offers spacious accommodation with 2 ensuite bedrooms.   Underfloor heating throughout.
Kitchen and dining:  Open plan kitchen/dining/living area. The kitchen is newly fitted with with all mod cons including dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave...    
There is a dining table and chairs for 6 people
Living rooms: Open plan living area which is light and airy and has comfortable seating, satellite TV
Bedrooms:  Both bedrooms have an ensuite shower room, one bedroom has a double bed, the other has twin beds.
Bathrooms: 2 ensuite shower rooms plus outside shower and toilet. 
Terrace which is South facing with view of gardens and orchard.  Table, chairs and umbrella.

 

 

OUTSIDE LEISURE 

There are gardens to the front of the house with trees, and further large landscaped gardens to the rear of the property with a BBQ area.  The swimming pool is 12 meters in length and has been fenced off for security.
We have an outside shower and WC which previous guests have said is a great idea and saves having to go through the house with wet feet!

Changeover day is a Sunday, though this can be flexible outside of the main season.
Prices are per week and include hire of bed linen. (please bring your pool/beach/house towels).
Security deposit £200 per gite is payable, this is fully refundable if no damage to property and left in a clean and tidy condition.

LOCATION

Logis Le Beugnon is located in a small rural village in the Deux Sevres region of Poitou Charentes.  A flourishing bar/restaurant is located opposite the property.
We are located on a cycle route, with horse riding and fishing nearby.  There are an abundance of sports in the area, to suit everybody's requirements. 
Depending on the time of year you will see fields of sunflowers which so epitomise this area.
The nearest small town is Parthenay (21km) with supermarkets, restaurants and shops as well as the tourist office.
About 20km from the house is the Mervent – Vouvant Forest of 5000 hectares through which flow the Mere and Vendee Rivers. It’s ideal for walking (over 200km of footpaths), mountain biking & riding and there is also the fun park of Pierre Brune. Here there is a nautical centre where you can hire sailing and electric boats, canoes, kayaks, and bicycles. There is also the Natur’Zoo de Mervent an animal park in the forest. In Mervent village you might like to take in the panoramic view of the forest and river whilst you sip your aperitif on the terrace of the Bar Rondo.
Vouvant is said to be one of the most beautiful villages in France. It sits atop a hill by the side of river Mere.
There are several local markets but the best is held on Saturday mornings in Fontenay le Comte (pop. 14500) 27km away. It is an attractive town with some good restaurants and shops, while in the old quarter there are some fine Renaissance houses.
Between Fontenay and Niort, on the south side of the N148, is an area called Marais Poitevin (32km) (and sometimes Venise Verte on account of canals and lush green area). There are some pretty villages by the water where you can hire punts or be punted. Head for Coulon or Damvix (29km). 
The property is within easy driving distance of the Atlantic coast beaches (approx 1 hours 15 minutes drive) Most beaches are backed by sand dunes and pine forests with large areas for picnics and scenic coastal walks. The Vendee coast stretches for 120km and boasts many blue flag awards. There is also a large man-made beach/activity park within 30 mins drive at  Xanton-Chassenon.
The historic port of La Rochelle is 75km away with its famous aquarium, numerous bars and restaurants and great shopping.

Le Puy de Fou, the famous French historical theme park is just 48 km away - a fantastic day out which is well worth a visit.  There is also a nightshow - Cinescenie which needs to be booked in advance.
Or you may like to visit Parc du Futuroscope (the European Cinema Park) near Poitiers where children will enjoy state of the art entertainment.

Every 2 years (June 2010), Fontenay-le-Comte holds a magnificent carnival with floats and dancers from around the world. The whole event is finished with a magnificent firework display on the third night.

Travel
Nearest airports are La Rochelle and Nantes, 45 mins and 1 hours drive respectively. Poitiers is also accessible by car in 1 hour 15 mins. The driving times from the channel ports are St Malo (3 hours), Caen (4.5 hours) and Cherbourg (5 hours). Use of a car is advisable.
