Set in the Vendee in a peaceful and tranquil location.  Sapin is a 2 Bedroom Gite. The property enjoys views over open countryside and has approximately 1.5 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens.   There is also free use of a fishing lake only 300 metres from the property, with carp, pike, roach, tench etc.      WIFI

SAPIN - 2 Bedroom Gite.  Sleeps 6
Spacious Gite with Private Patio 
Open plan kitchen/diner, lounge area.
Kitchen - Fully equipped with 4 burner cooker with oven, Fridge Freezer, Microwave, washing machine and ample pots, pans and utensils for self-catering.
Dining Area - Solid Pine table and chairs for 6. enjoys good view of the country side and gardens.
Lounge - comfortable settes and arm chairs.
Bathroom - Large shower with seat, toilet and washbasin. Double bedroom also is ensuite.
Bedroom 1 - Double Bed, Large wardrobe, chest of draws. The ensuite bathroom has shower ,toilet and washbasin.
Bedroom 2 - Spacious room with 2 single beds and a set of bunk beds, wardrobe, bedside table and chairs.
The gite has tiled floors and exposed stonework

Small patio by the car park and split level entrance.
Large Private Patio with Garden table and Chairs and a Parasol.  BBQ
Separate entrance to the Kitchen/Lounge/Diner.
Good views over approximately 1.5 acres of landscaped gardens.
 

 

Outdoor Pool
The Outdoor swimming pool is 8.4m x 4m and is 1.3m depth throughout,
The pool is not heated other than by the sun, but is generally at a suitable temperature from May till October 
 

The Gardens
We are proud of our gardens at La Grange not only because of the way they are landscaped and the vast amount of colour in the flower beds, but because of the amount of enjoyment that they bring to our visitors.
The gardens were designed so that where ever you are on the site there is always something interesting to view, and with the gardens blending into the natural landscape it has the feel of space and being together with nature.Plenty of space for games such as croquet and badminton etc

Activities nearby:
Off Site the following are just some of the activities that can be found locally:
Fishing - We have free use of a nearby lake, with Carp, Pike, Roach etc.  Only approx 300 metres away! 
Other fishing in the Canals, Rivers and lakes requires a permit.
Tennis - Available in the local Village.
Golf - There are several courses within easy driving distance.
Boating - The lakes at mervent have sailboats, canoes, kayaks and pedalos for hire.
The Green Venice also has boat hire with or without a guide.
Biking - The hiring of bikes is possible at several locations.
Horse Riding - Available in the Mervent/Vouvant forest.
Karting - There is an excellent course at Fontenay-le-Comte, where karts can be hired.

Sapin is a FRIDAY changeover day, however, this is flexible outside of the main season.
There is a £200 security deposit which is fully refundable if no damage to the property or breakages and left in a clean and tidy condition.
OPTIONAL EXTRAS:  Hire of Bed linen, if required, £10 per person per week.  

                                    Hire of house towels £10 per set, you will need to bring pool towels.    

 End of stay clean £100 is compulsory

*Supplement of £100 for 7 night durations in school summer holidays.

FRENCH TOURIST TAX is payable at 0.50 euros per adult (18+) per night.  This is payable in cash upon arrival.

We have just returned from our holidays at La Grange. Its not very often that a location surpasses the description of their web site, but in the case of La Grange it most certainly did.

We were greeted on arrival by Trevor, a gentleman, who showed us around the beautiful spacious house which we made home for two weeks, each of the 8 of us felt very comfortable there and every facility that was needed was on hand.

The two swimming pools and the games room as well as the gardens, as well as some very local facilities, were more than sufficient to entertain us for the duration of our holiday, and resulted in us doing a lot less touring than we had planned.

Overall we had a wonderful time at La Grange and we do look forward to holidaying there again.

We had an excellent time and the gites were plenty big enough for our families to share. We particularly liked the outdoor pool, gardens and the snooker table. We also made full use of the allotment, eating fresh tomatoes every day!

 

Thank you for a great holiday at La Grange.  Tevor was a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble, he was really helpful and informative.  Both families had a wonderful time and would highly recommend La Grange to others.

 

We are on our way back to the port after a lovely 2 weeks staying at La Grange. The setting is beautiful and Trevor has been a wonderful host. It has been the perfect holiday and it's def somewhere we would consider returning to.

 

La Grange is an absolute gem of a property, in a great location.  Best holiday ever and plan to return next year.

 

We let the whole property out for a wedding and reception and Trevor was fantastic.  So helpful, I do not know how we would have managed without his help. LOCATION

Sapin at La Grange is set in a quiet rural location.  One the edge of the village of L'Hermenault and within walking distance (1.5 km) of patisserie/boulangerie, tabac/cafe, small supermarket, pharmacy, post office, banks (with 24 hour cashpoint),  doctor (English spoken) and dentist.
The village St Martin des Fontaines (500 m) has a restaurant/bar which is very popular and reasonably priced. 
We are between the historic market towns of Fontenay-le-Comte (11km)and Lucon (15km). 
There is a large carp Fishing lake for customers at the property, which they are very welcome to use OR Trout and coarse fishing are within a 5 min drive and permits can be arranged. 
The open countryside all around the property is quiet, tranquil and excellent for cycling, walks, birdwatching, painting and wildlife or just generally relaxing, whilst on the doorstep lie numerous places of interest and outdoor activities to suit everyone. 

You can reach the beautiful golden Vendee beaches 45 minutes to an hour drive. Most beaches are backed by sand dunes and pine forests with large areas for picnics and scenic coastal walks. The Vendee coast stretches for 120km and boasts many blue flag awards. There is also a large man-made beach/activity park within 20 mins drive at nearby Xanton-Chassenon, this is very popular with lifeguards, water sports, children's play area, toboggan slides, picnic areas etc.

The pretty harbour of La Rochelle with its famous aquarium, numerous bars and restaurants and great shopping is approx. 50 mins drive. Futuroscope and Puy de Fou are approx. 1 hour's drive. The Marais Poitevin with its sleepy waterways, boat rides and beautiful abbeys is under 30 minutes by car. The Mervent Forest is 15 mins by car. Most Atlantic beaches can be reached within the hour.

For wine lovers, the nearby cave at Pissotte produces and sells direct to the public well-known local red and white wines.
Every 2 years (June 2010), Fontenay-le-Comte holds a magnificent carnival with floats and dancers from around the world. The whole event is finished with a magnificent firework display on the third night.

 

La Rochelle airport is 45-minute drive. Nantes airport 1-hour drive, Poitiers airport is 1hr 10 min drive. Car hire is available at these airports. St Malo is an easy 3-hour drive. Caen is approx 4.5 hours and Cherbourg approx 5.5 hours drive.
